Recently, the National Health Commission, the Red Cross Society of China and the Health Bureau of the Logistics Support Department of the Central Military Commission issued the Decision on Commending the Winners of the National Reward and Reward for Free Blood Donation in 2020-2021, and our city won the honorary title of “National Advanced City for Free Blood Donation” for the seventh consecutive time.
At the same time, there are a large number of individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the work of unpaid blood donation in our city. Sun Zhengwu and other 34 people, Ren Zhiyuan and other 329 people, Lu Xiaolong and other 619 people, Dong Xiaohua and other 1517 people have successively won the “Free Blood Donation Award” lifetime honor award, gold award, silver award and bronze award. One person including Wang Fang, one person including Liang Bin, one person including Hao Zhijie, four people including Chen Wei, and 24 people including Chen Min were successively awarded the Lifetime Honorary Award of “Voluntary Blood Donation Award”, four stars, three stars, two stars, and one star.
It is understood that the objects of commendation and reward for unpaid blood donation refer to individuals, collectives, provinces (cities) and troops who have made significant achievements and contributions to the cause of unpaid blood donation. The national recognition activity of unpaid blood donation is held every two years. Since 2008-2009, our city has been awarded the honorary title of “National Advanced City of Free Blood Donation” for seven consecutive times.
The achievements can not be achieved without our city’s attention to the work of unpaid blood donation. In recent years, our city has incorporated the work of unpaid blood donation into the important content of the construction of spiritual civilization. With the “June 14” World Blood Donor Day, the Angels in White Blood Donation Month and other activities as the starting point, we have continuously strengthened the advocacy of unpaid blood donation, and formed a mechanism of unpaid blood donation led by the government, led by health care, coordinated by departments, and participated by the whole society. In 2022, the total amount of blood collected in our city will reach 19.25 tons.
The individuals who have been commended this time have devoted themselves to voluntary blood donation or voluntary service for several years. For example, the winner of the “gratuitous blood donation award” gold medal must be a blood donor who has voluntarily donated blood for 40 times or more, while the lifetime honor award is one who has won the gold medal for more than 3 times in total. The “Voluntary Service Award for Free Blood Donation” is intended to reward individuals who actively participate in voluntary service of free blood donation and hematopoietic stem cell donation. Their lifetime honor award must have more than 10 years of voluntary service and more than 2000 hours of cumulative time, or more than 3000 hours of cumulative time.
