Reporters learned from the Mianyang Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics on the morning of October 11 that the list of the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units was announced on October 10. There were 762 new national key cultural relics protection units. Four new cultural relics protection units in Mianyang included the Hall of Yanting Hualin Temple, Yanting Wenxing Temple, Santai Lanchi Temple and the former site of Zitong Zhongwu Institute. So far, the number of key cultural relics protection units in Mianyang has increased to 22.
Among the four new national key cultural relics protection units in Mianyang, the main hall of Hualin temple in Yanting, Wenxing temple in Yanting and Lanti temple in Santai are all ancient buildings. Among them, Yanting Hualin Temple is located in the third group of Mars Village, Fuyi Town and it was built in the Tang Dynasty. Yanting Hualin temple has a quadrangle layout and is situated north and faces south. Now only the main hall of this temple is left to be built between Yuan Dynasty and 14th year (1311). There are 23 treaties and more than 1500 ink inscriptions on the building components of the hall. In 2012, the Yanting Hualin Temple was declared as a provincial cultural relics protection unit by the provincial government. Wenxing Temple is located in Yanting County, Anjia Town, Exi Village, Exi River, is a rural temple mainly dedicated to the emperor Wenchang. It was founded in the twelve years of Ming Ying Zong orthodoxy (1447) and two renovations were carried out in the fifty-fifth year of Kangxi (1716) and the second year of Xianfeng (1852). Now only Guixiang Hall and Santong Stone Stele of Qing Dynasty and a stone Confucius rank are left. Wenxing Temple was declared provincial cultural relics protection unit by provincial government in 2012.Santai Lanchi Temple is located in Yuchiwan, Lanchi Village, Tashan Town and it was founded in Tang Dynasty. It is a quadrangle, situated north to south. Ancient buildings such as Baidian, Daiyue Temple and wings on the east and west sides can date from Ming and Qing Dynasties. Santai Lanchi Temple was declared as a provincial cultural relic protection unit in 2007.
The former site of Zitong Zhongwu Institute is an important historical and architectural site in modern times. In 1969, the Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics moved its departments from Qinghai to Changqing Town, Zitong, and completed the design of atomic bomb and hydrogen bomb successively. Until 1992, it moved from Zitong to Mianyang, so the former site of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics in Zitong was called "Two Bombs City". Yu Min, Wang Ganchang, Deng Jiaxian and Zhu Guangya, who won the medal of "two bombs and one star", left footprints in the "two bombs city" of Zitong. Up to now, 167 buildings in the 1960s, such as auditorium, office building, information center, general building, former residence of Deng Jiaxian and former residence of Wang Ganchang, as well as many memorial objects, such as air raid shelter and national soul stele forest, have become the focus of carrying forward the spirit of "two bombs and one star". In the third national cultural relics census, the former site of Zitong Zhongwu Institute was included in the list of 100 new discoveries of cultural relics, and in 2018 it was included in the "second batch of national industrial heritage list".
Reporters learned that since the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units declaration and selection work started, Mianyang  has recommended a total of 12 cultural relics protection units to Sichuan Cultural Relics Bureau. After the preliminary examination by Sichuan Provincial Bureau of cultural relics, 7 cultural relics protection units in Mianyang were recommended to participate in the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units. After the examination and approval of the State Administration of cultural relics, experts were organized to comment and vote, and special conferences were organized, and finally four cultural relics protection units in Mianyang were upgraded to national key cultural relics protection units.
